A new study by Object First reveals growing pressure on IT and cybersecurity professionals. 84% report extreme stress due to cyber threats, and nearly 60% are considering leaving their jobs.

The survey highlights how experts are caught between rising cyberattacks and unrealistic management expectations. Many fear personal liability if systems are breached, adding psychological pressure. Almost half face demands to "fix everything immediately" after incidents, while 18% feel helpless and exhausted.

Constant responsibility without adequate resources leads to burnout and low motivation. CEO David Bennett warns that stress among cyber professionals threatens overall business resilience.

One major issue is the complexity of data recovery and ransomware protection tools. 74% say their systems are too complex to use without deep cybersecurity knowledge. Overwork, understaffing, and long hours further erode confidence during attacks.

Although AI tools are increasingly used to detect threats, managing them adds cognitive fatigue instead of easing workloads—especially as attackers also use AI. Experts stress the need for both technical solutions and mental health support.

Half of respondents say their organizations neglect employee well-being. They call for flexible schedules, employee assistance programs, and mental health resources. To address this, Object First is partnering with Cybermindz to provide stress management tools and educational materials.
