Google has begun beta testing Gmail Live, a new Gemini-powered feature that lets users search their inbox using voice commands. Announced at Google I/O, the feature is gradually rolling out to select Android and iOS users and will become available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers later this summer.

Gmail Live introduces a voice interface for email. Users can ask Gemini to find information such as travel dates, order details, or other content stored in their emails. Voice requests are transcribed on screen, while responses are delivered both as text and spoken audio, with the option to open the original email immediately.

The feature is launched via a new Live button in Gmail’s search bar and is currently available as a beta, with a slight delay in processing voice commands.

Google is also preparing similar Live features for Docs, Drive, and Keep. Gmail Live is not intended to replace traditional search but to complement it, giving users the choice between keyword-based searches and a conversational Gemini-powered experience.
