OpenAI has introduced a new feature called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” similar to Spotify Wrapped, which summarizes user activity over the past year. The new option is available to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
TechCrunch reports this.
The feature displays various usage statistics, including the number of chats, the day the user was most active, and even the number of dashes exchanged between the user and the bot. In addition, ChatGPT offers “awards” for task types, identifies a user archetype, generates an AI-created portrait, and analyzes communication style. For example, the bot may remind users that they once asked it not to invent statistics without sources.
The official year-in-review also encourages users to check their privacy settings. As TechCrunch explains, the feature works only for Free, Plus, and Pro users who have enabled Reference saved memories and Reference chat history. These settings allow ChatGPT to remember previous conversations. They can be disabled via Settings → Personalization → Manage Memories, where users can manage memory toggles and delete specific information.
According to OpenAI’s support documentation, data from ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu customers is not used to train models. However, for Free, Plus, and Pro users who have enabled Improve the model for everyone, their memories and chats may be used for model training. This option can be turned off in the Data Controls section.
